The Buenos Aires Film Rush was a project I devised to help launch the Argentina Independent's new multimedia section. It involved teams of film makers being given one day to shoot and edit a three minute film that included the three elements we revealed to them on the day. I came up with the idea for the event, did all of the promotion and organisation for the event and also helped present the films in Spanish at the screening. Buenos Aires Film Rush - Instructions in English
The Argentina Independent is organising a challenge for filmmakers. Alone, or with a team, come and participate FREE!
Each team has ten hours to make a 3-minute short that includes 3 secret ingredients that will be unveiled on the day. They could be anything, for example, a red balloon, an elephant, and a lost love. The same night we will show all the films together - and then we party!
At the Indy we believe cinema should be a social experience. Film should be fun. Film Rush is the antithesis to the glitz and glamour of the big festivals. We prefer the mixtape approach to cinema, taking film out of it's box and putting you in control at all times. We want to bring people together, Argentines and ex-pats, and show how much fun you can have with a camera, some friends, and the city of Buenos Aires as your cinematic backdrop.
3 minutes of fame, or 3 minutes of infamy…what you choose to shoot is completely up to you. As long as they all make an appearance in the film you're free to interpret our three secret ingredients in any way you like. Be creative. Take cinema to pieces and put it back together any way you please. Have fun. Make mistakes. But remember: the clock is ticking, you have just 10 hours!

How the day works:
11am: All teams will meet at the Obelisco (North Side) to receive the mystery ingredients that must be included in each film.
This is to ensure everything is shot on the day and that nobody can use any pre-recorded material, but more importantly to trigger your imaginations and get your creativity flowing.
After receiving the instructions each team will have just TEN HOURS to SCRIPT, SHOOT, EDIT, and submit a FINAL CUT of your three-minute film to us at the end of the day. Your set, studio and of course star is Buenos Aires.
10pm: Finished films must be submitted to us, at a location to be announced shortly.
10.30pm: We will screen everybody's films together at the same location and decide a winner based on audience approval. PRIZES will be awarded to the winning team. Anyone is welcome to come to the evening screening so feel free to invite anyone you want.
Later: FIESTA! The bar will stay open long into the night.
Prizes: The winning film will be exhibited on The Argentina Independent's homepage as part of the launch of our new video section, receive publicity via our newsletter and usual marketing channels. Our sponsors Cine Club Mon Amour will also be providing a selection of free tickets to their awesome micro-cine in San Telmo.
Equipment: We welcome teams to participate with any type of camera they choose but we cannot provide any equipment. All teams must be responsible for finding and using all their own equipment. Teams must edit their own films and completed films must be submitted on DVD, or as self contained video files. (e.g. Avi, MPEG, etc. not final cut projects etc.)
Solo participants: If you don't have a team but would still like to get involved fill out the sign-up sheet as normal, completing the section for solo participants. Tell us what equipment you have (if any) and we will aim to put you in a team.
Weather: If Saturday looks set to be an unsuitable day for filming we will postpone the event to the following Saturday. Signed up teams will receive confirmation of the event, or notification of its postponement, on Friday 15th of July.

The Argentina Independent, un díario online en inglés que pretende dar una voz a los que los medios de comunicación multimedios ignoran, está organizando un desafío para creadores de películas.
Cada equipo tendrá 10 horas para hacer un cortometraje de hasta tres minutos de duración con un listado de instrucciones que les revelaremos nuevo al principio del día. Por ejemplo: Los equipos deberán hacer un corto que contengan ciertos elementos, por ejemplo: un perro, un tatuaje y un amante perdido. Al finalizar la jornada, esa misma noche, proyectaremos todos los cortos – y después habrá fiesta!

The Argentina Independent cree que el cine debe ser una experiencia social. Film Rush es el antítesis del glamour y de las alfombras rojas de los festivales de cine grandes. Por eso preferimos dar el control del cine a ustedes todo el tiempo. Queremos acercar a toda la gente, Argentinos y extranjeros, y mostrar que diversión es posible con una cámara, algunos amigos, y la ciudad de Buenos Aires como su escenario de rodar.
Tenés 3 minuto de fama o 3 minutos de lo que quieras. Lo que elijas para rodar es tu opción completa. Tal pronto como todos estén incluidos, puedas interpretar nuestras 3 "condiciones" de cualquiera manera. Ser creativo. Deconstruir el cine y reconstruirlo como quieras. Tener diversión. Cometer errores. Pero recordá: el reloj estará corriendo, tenés solo 10 horas para completar tus 3 minutos de film!

CRONOGRAMA DE ACTIVIDADES
11am: Encuentro en el Obelisco para recibir las “condiciones” para la realización de la película, así nos asegurarnos que todo será rodado el día del evento, y que nadie puede utilizar material que ya haya sido filmado con anterioridad. Aunque lo más importante de las “condiciones” será inspirar y estimular su creatividad.
Después de recibir las instrucciones, cada equipo tendrá solo DIEZ HORAS para HACER el GUIÓN, RODAR, EDITAR y después entregarnos el CORTO FINAL de su película de TRES MINUTOS al fin del día. Su escenario y estudio será la ciudad de Buenos Aires.
10pm: ENTREGA de las películas terminadas, en La Tribu, Lambaré 873, Almagro.
10.30pm: Proyectaremos todas las películas en La Tribu y el ganador será elegido por la audiencia. Los ganadores recibirán PREMIOS. Todo el mundo está invitado al estreno al final del día, pueden traer a invitados.
Más tarde: HABRÁ FIESTA! El bar de La Tribu estará abierto hasta tarde!
Premios: La película ganadora será difundidos en nuestra página www.argentinaindependent.com como forma del lanzamiento de nuestra sección de video. También los ganadores recibirán una selección de entradas para www.cineclubmonamour.com
Equipos: Pueden participar con cualquier cámara que tengan disponible, nosotros no podemos proveer ningún material de equipo. Todos los participantes tendrán que ser responsables de todo su equipo. Cada equipo tendrá que editar sus propias películas. Las películas terminadas deberán ser entregadas en DVD, o en pen-drive en un solo archivo (Avi, MPG, etc.)
Participantes individuales: Si no tenés compañero pero igual te gustaría formar parte, por favor completá el formulario de anotación, en la sección para participantes solos. Decínos con qué equipo contás, (cámara, máquina de edición, o nada) e intentaremos conseguirte compañeros para ese día.
Tiempo: Si por alguna razón meteorológica es imposible filmar el sábado tendremos que posponer el evento hasta el Sábado 23. Todos los equipos anotados el Viernes 15 de Julio recibirán un mail para confirmar el evento, o notificar que está pospuesto.
